Modern Foreign Languages
Our Modern Foreign Language lessons are a vibrant and lively place to be. There are regular games and songs amongst the many language acquisition activities. We aim to offer students a series of valuable experiences that cover the different aspects of learning and also opportunities to use the language in their daily interactions with their class teacher.
Since September 2014, the new National Curriculum has made learning a language compulsory in Key Stage 2. With Primary Languages Network’s team’s history, knowledge, and background, we were impressed with their standards, curriculum, and teaching style. In using Primary Languages Network, we are able to teach MFL interactively, attend CPD events, benefit from instant access to a community of MFL teachers across the country and have use of a wealth of online and printable resources to use during class or during times of distance learning.
Extra curricular activites
Spanish Cafe
Pupils and parents were invited to join in with our afterschool Spanish cafe. Traditional Spanish foods were available for sale and our customers had a go at ordering their food and drink using their Spanish language skills and then enjoyed taking part in food and drink related table activities.
Fiesteval
2024 was our 10th year as a school taking part Fiesteval, an annual celebration of primary MFL, hosted by Greenbank High School. The aim of ‘La Fiestaval’ is to raise awareness of languages in the Primary setting, enthuse pupils and give them a deserved opportunity to showcase what they have learnt in their language lessons.
Our children performed fantastically in Spanish in front of a big audience! They were absolutely amazing and we were very proud of them!
We can't wait to return in 2025!
